The story behind ORBN

From a side project to "how do you say it anyway?"

ORBN started as a weekend prototype - an order-routing tool built with Google's OR-Tools for a foodservice wholesaler. We needed a name, so we tacked on ".bin" (the file extension for binary files). Done. OR.bin.

The tool worked. People liked it. But integration with their ERP was a nightmare. Every conversation led to the same place: the real bottleneck wasn't route efficiency - it was systems that didn't talk to each other. ERPs without integration APIs. WMSs not talking to the ERPs. Data stuck in silos.

They didn't need another piece of software. They needed a digital backbone - something that connected everything and let information actually flow.

So that's what OR.bin became.

Along the way, the dot disappeared. What remained was ORBN: a platform that brings visibility and intelligence to complex foodservice wholesaler operations.

We connect commerce, warehouse, and supply-chain systems so businesses can stop duct-taping processes together and start scaling with confidence.

The name started as a joke, but it stuck because it captures how we work - grounded in engineering, driven by curiosity, always looking for the smarter way to make systems work together.
